Here are some of the most eye-catching outdoor advertising campaigns I have come across during my short advertising career.
1. Come a little closer
Campaign for a funeral service. The poster is placed across the train path in the tube. Impression – smart, sharp but totally unacceptable.
2. Campaign promoting The Sopranos for HBO channel.
Taxis drove around New York with a human arm sticking out of the trunk. Impression – great teaser for the movie (better than the movie itself).
3. Campaign for a job service company
Being very creative, it has won numerous advertising awards. Life is too short for the wrong job, indeed. Impression – classic and very memorable.
4. Campaign for 100% recycled Silk Soft toilet tissue
The stickers were placed in the bathrooms of Copenhagen. Impression – quite rough, massively abusive and funny.
5. Campaign pushing for freedom of expression in Belarus
The initiative was run in the neighboring Poland by Amnesty International. Impression – original and emotionally involving.
6. Campaign to raise awareness about homeless people
A homeless man is pictured on the inner side of the garbage lid, calling for public attention: “Help. So that no one has to come here for food.” Impression – persuasive, great placement position.
7. Drink awareness campaign
Drinking drives you into an accident. Impression – strong visual message.
8. Playboy wet tits billboard in Germany
The billboard reads “Guys, pray for rain”. Impression – clever ad, speaks directly to male audience. Playboy has to be smart to win the audience back from the online rivals.
This ad, on the contrary, speaks to female audience:
9. Papa Jones pizza banner
Papa Jones reminds they deliver pizza right to the doorstep. Impression – disturbing, yet original.

I disagree completely with your first assessment of the Bergemann & Sohn Funeral Services company being unacceptable. By poll standards from responses in Berlin, Germany, where the images were posted, they received over a hundredfold more responses on their website. Their business boomed after this little post in underground stations throughout the city.
